Authorities stated they were contacted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.

Police then located multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.

An important representative stated the incident made him without words and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
