Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Group
Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for Casimir.

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.
